Esta Noche 2010
Esta Noche 2010 is a key annual performance event of Vietnamese Students’ Subcommittee (VSS). It has gained the popularity among Vietnamese community due to its being well-organized and its role as a playground for music lovers and a traditional bonding event in the community as well.
The concert consists of various types of performances revolving around the guitar, ranging from vocal to instrumental, rock to classical music. Being a showcase of music talents in our community, the annual concert brings to the audiences the enjoyment from the performers’ “professional” skill playing. It also promotes Vietnam culture through the touch of music and performing arts.
Every year since its very first concert in 2005, we always observed full house attendance and managed to deliver nights of sumptuous music for the supportive audience.
This year, Esta Noche aims to target a wider audience (300 people), bringing Vietnam’s distinct music culture beyond the border to our foreign friends who love to enjoy a touch of Vietnamese music.
More importantly, this year concert will set a new meaningful mission: to raise fund for the biggest community project within Vietnamese community – VietnamJUMP2010.
- Raise better awareness and more funding for VietnamJUMP 2010, which is an overseas community service trip to Vietnam for NUS students who share the spirit of helping the hard lives.
- Build up the playground for students to pursuit their love for music and guitar and foster the bonding among students and graduates through music.
- Promote Vietnamese culture through the touch of music and performing arts.
- Promote and enrich the cultural life among Vietnamese students as part of NUS community, adding more colours to the current diverse life culture of NUS.
LIVE DIARY revolves around one of the most common topics in our life – falling in love. Yet, it is a special diary, written in a special way to begin with: on stage and in music.
And it is not the diary of one person; it is the diary of two persons in love, where their relationship is shown under different lights, from each person’s perspective. Little things happening in their daily life before and after meeting each other are recorded in various angles, along with their thoughts, their emotions and the lessons learned. All those make up what people call “love”, the love they feel for each other, for their beloved friends and family, and for their life.
This concept touches on one’s innermost happiness: love and being loved, which can easily seek mutual understanding and feeling regardless of nationality and boundaries. Hence, we wish to share our Vietnamese music with international friends in NUS, while at the same time to generate better support for the volunteer project of Vietnamese Community: VietnamJUMP, which delivers the same message of giving and receiving love through community service.
