Friendship Village

The destination of the trip is the Friendship Village - a treatment and care center for Agent Orange victims, which locates in Ha Tay province, about 11km from the extreme western limit of Hanoi or approximately 35 minutes by car from downtown Hanoi.

Vietnam Friendship Village opened its doors since 1993. These children, whose fathers or grandfathers were exposed to Agent Orange causing chromosomal damage or whose mother's milk were contaminated , suffer from a range of difficult conditions. While staying there, they are nourished and provided with free medical care. In addition, the children also receive basic education and job training.

At this moment, there are about 120 children and 40 veterans living in the village. For more information about Vietnam Friendship Village please refer to http://www.vietnamfriendship.org.

Our team will be staying at the office building of VPV (Volunteers for Peace Vietnam) which can cater for around 30 people at a time. Meals will be prepared together by team members with the help of a local cook, which gives everyone a chance to learn about the food culture of Vietnamese people.

The Village is located about 2 kilometers away from the office and the team will go to work by bicycles provided by VPV.
